Europe's largest Gay and Lesbian festival, was held on 30 June, 2001 in Finsbury Park, London. In 2001 once again 85,000 Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered people to descended upon Finsbury Park to celebrate  life, enjoy live music from four stages, boogie in the dance tents, shop in our village, and enjoy games, rides, and people. Acts included Steps, Hearsay, Sugarbabes, Mel B, Five and A1. The biggest Mardi Gras event ever held in the UK. Overground was there with a camera and the photos from the parade and festival itself can be views opposite.

At around £15 a ticket, the cost of getting to the capital, and then paying (in advance is best to avoid long que's) may put off many from going, but you really do get your money's worth. Mardi Gras is now at Brixtons' Brockwell Park, which can be reached by train at Brixton station and by tube via the piccadilly line and is served by several major bus routes that take you in and out of the city centre.
